PACERS TRADES
UPSYDE SPORTS PRESENTS:
Three Trades to Quickly Rebuild the Pacers:
1. Myles Turner - Trade to Dallas for Josh Green, Moses Brown, Maxi Kleber, and a future first round pick - Mavs fans will be disheartened to let two young players go, as well as a solid role player in Maxi Kleber, but the Pacers need to get value back. They get a former first round pick, a solid young developing big man, and a great locker room guy and stretch forward. Kleber is solid veteran role player in his prime. For Dallas, they get a legitimate center that drastically improves their defense and opens up a roster spot for when they bring in Goran Dragic. Turner is signed through next year, so this could be a huge upgrade for them.
2. Domantas Sabonis - Trade to Golden State for James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody - This still gives Golden State options on draft day. They keep their 2022 and 2023 first round picks, they consolidate young assets to get a win-now player that is under contract for an additional two years, and they open up roster spots for the buy-out market. For Indiana this trade loads them up with talented young players, the prize piece being James Wiseman. It's possible Golden State can negotiate this trade down to only two of their prospects, but Sabonis will receive heavy value based on his production and contract.
3. Caris LeVert - Trade to Chicago Bulls for Patrick Williams and Derrick Jones Jr - This is essentially a Williams for LeVert swap. The Bulls are trying to go for a championship and they are without a starting wing. They might have to include Coby White, but I think this might be enough based on the production LeVert is providing and the fact that the Pacers should be actively trying to tank at this point. Williams would be their 4 of future when he returns.
With the Pacers extending Brogdon, he cannot be traded until the summer at the earliest and with Warren not playing in almost 2 years, they likely just let his and Lamb's contracts expire. Justin Holiday could help them get a couple of second round picks, but he is signed through next year, so it makes sense for them to see what materializes. These young players will join their other prospects - Chris Duarte, Goga Bitadze, Isaiah Jackson, and Oshae Brisset.
Since the team is blowing thing things up in this scenario, it would not surprise me to see them go in a different coaching direction. Carlisle is not know for player development, although, he has done well with Duarte to this point. Whatever happens, they seem to be a team to watch.
